Koei Tecmo Games to Release Smartphone Version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI Game

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Game originally launched in N. America for PS2 in 2007, on PC in 2008

Koei Tecmo Games announced on Wednesday that it is working with BBGame to produce a smartphone version of KOEI's Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI game. The game will launch in "multiple languages" in November for iOS and Android.

The New Romance of the Three Kingdoms smartphone game had a soft launch in China earlier this year and received more than 6 million downloads.

Koei Tecmo Games describes the game:

New Romance Of the Three Kingdoms will bring the beloved franchise to mobile devices and allow players to once again delve into the world of the Han Dynasty with famous generals such as Zhao Yun, Guan Yu, and Lu Bu.

The New Romance of the Three Kingdoms mobile allows users worldwide to connect on a global server to fight on a giant 1 million tile map for the unification of China. Also, the game provides multiple side quests and missions, providing users with tactical combat and strategic gameplay experience.

KOEI released the game on PC in Japan in March 2006 and a PlayStation 2 version in Japan in September 2006. The game launched for PS2 in North America in February 2007, and then on PC in September 2008. The game also received a release on the Wii in Japan only in March 2007.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII, the latest game in the franchise, shipped for PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam in North America in July 2016. Koei Tecmo Games released the game in Japan in January 2016 after a delay to "increase the quality of the game." The game's original December 10, 2015 release date would have coincided with the 30th anniversary of the original Romance of the Three Kingdoms game's December 10, 1985 release date. The game then launched for the Nintendo Switch in March 2017.
