Omega Labyrinth Z Game's Western Release Cancelled

posted on by Karen Ressler
Game with "bust" power-ups launched in Japan last year

PQube Games announced on Monday that it is withdrawing its plans to release Omega Labyrinth Z in North America and Europe on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. The published explained that it "must respectfully comply with the wishes of the platform holder."

PQube's full statement is as follows:

PQube strives to release Japanese content for its fans as close to the source material as possible. In the case of Omega Labyrinth Z, while PQube has worked with all relevant age rating bodies in their respective territories, PQube must respectfully comply with the wishes of the platform holder and have therefore withdrawn any future plans for Omega Labyrinth Z's European and North American release on PS4 and PS Vita.

The Video Standards Council Ratings Board, the statutory body responsible for the age rating of video games in the United Kingdom, already refused to give the game a certificate for release in the U.K.

Omega Labyrinth Z is a roguelike RPG (dungeons are randomly generated). By defeating monsters, the characters can "power up" and increase their bust size. PQube describes the story:

Rumours of an item referred to as the 'Grail of Beauty' are whispered through the hallowed halls of the storied educational institution of Embellir Girls Academy. The Grail can grant any wish, large or small, and as the tale goes, it is hidden in a secret cave that only reveals itself on opening day of the Academy each year. Aina Akemiya, a popular young student at the academy, is fed up with feeling self-conscious about her body, and so she sets out on a grand quest to obtain the Grail of Beauty!

The game shipped in Japan in July 2017.
