Double Dragon IV Gets Digital Release for Nintendo Switch

posted on by Karen Ressler
Game launched for PS4, PC earlier this year

Arc System Works announced on Monday that it will release Double Dragon IV digitally on Nintendo Switch on September 7 in Japan.

Arc System Works launched the game in the West for PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam in January, but the PlayStation 4 edition for the game was delayed to February in Japan.

The game celebrates the franchise's 30th anniversary. The story begins after the elimination of the Shadow Warriors in 1988's Double Dragon II: The Revenge. Arc System Works describes the game:

Billy and Jimmy Lee are back and they've brought the 80's with them except the battlefield has moved to Japan!

Kakaomi Kaneko produced the game, Yoshihisa Kishimoto directed, Koji Ogata designed the characters, Kazunaka Yamane composed the music, and Kei Ōyama programmed the game.

Arc System Works announced in 2015 that it had acquired the rights to Double Dragon and a number of other Technos Japan games.
