Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization Game's Video Previews Update

"Fighters of the Blue Sky" available now, "Maiden of Abyss" DLC launches in 2017

Bandai Namco Entertainment began streaming an introduction video on Tuesday for the "Fighters of the Blue Sky" update of its Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita game. The update launched in Japan on Tuesday.

The free major update adds the characters Rain and Seven from Sword Art Online: Lost Song. The update also adds new maps and scenario, as well as player-versus-player capability. The level cap increases to 80 with the update, and it adds a pillow talk event with Premiere. Players gain the ability to copy skill pallets between weapons. Minor updates include gallery mode and adjustments to skills and experience.

The video also introduces the "Shin'en no Miko" (Maiden of Abyss) paid DLC content. "Shin'en no Miko" includes three new episodes for 1,000 yen (about US$9), and the Season Pass also includes the DLC for 2,500 yen (about US$21). People who purchase the Season Pass will receive an in-game wedding dress costume. The Premium Edition bundles the game, Season Pass, and new DLC for the PlayStation 4 for 9,700 yen (US$83) and for the PlayStation Vita for 8,600 yen (US$73). People who purchase the Premium Edition will receive the wedding dress, a maid outfit, and an original theme. The three-episode DLC is slated to launch in Japan in 2017.

The game shipped in Japan on October 27. Both the PS4 and PS Vita editions are available in regular and limited editions. The limited editions include box art illustrated by abec, a soundtrack CD, a special contents Blu-ray Disc, a special case for the Blu-ray Disc and CD, a "Dengeki Nerve Gear vol.4" pamphlet, and mini clear posters.

Bandai Namco Entertainment shipped Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization on November 8 in North America and Europe. In North America, the game is available physically and digitally on PS4 and digitally on PS Vita. The game is available physically and digitally for both PS4 and PS Vita in Europe.

The game will feature Japanese voices with English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish text.

A collector's edition of the game shipped in North America. The collector's edition includes: six-inch Kirito and Asuna figures, collector's edition packaging, a bonus Blu-ray Disc, a soundtrack, mini posters, decal sheets, and an artbook. In Europe, the collector's edition includes the six-inch Kirito and Asuna figures and the collector's edition packaging. The collector's editions are only available for the PS4 edition of the game.

The game's new characters are an NPC named Premiere (voiced by Yuiko Tatsumi) and Genesis (voiced by Kazuyuki Okitsu). Genesis, like Kirito, is called the "black swordsman."
