Nobuo Uematsu: I'm 'Not At All' Working on Final Fantasy VII Remake

Original game's composer reveals news to French website in interview on Friday

The French video game news website Jeuxvideo.com streamed a video interview with Final Fantasy VII composer Nobuo Uematsu and pianist/arranger Hiroyuki Nakayama on Friday. When the website asked Uematsu if he was working on the Final Fantasy VII remake game, Uematsu responded, "not at all."

Part of the video interview is still available to watch on Twitch.

Tetsuya Nomura is returning to the game as its director after serving as the character designer for the original game, and Kazushige Nojima is also returning to write the scenario. The game is slated to ship on the PlayStation 4 first.

Square Enix is also porting the PC version of the game (which was itself a port of the original PlayStation version) to the PlayStation 4. The game was originally expected to be available on the PS4 this spring, but it has since been delayed until winter.

The original game and its various ports have sold more than 11 million copies physically and digitally worldwide.
