Doraemon Co-Creator Fujiko Fujio A Puts Parman Manga on Hiatus

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Autobiographical essay manga launched in 2007

The December issue of Shueisha's Jump Square magazine is announcing on Wednesday that Doraemon co-creator Fujiko Fujio A (Motoo Abiko) is putting his Parman no Jōnetsu-teki na Hibi (Parman's Intense Daily Life) essay manga on an indefinite hiatus starting on Wednesday. Fujiko Fujio A added in a handwritten statement in the announcement that he was going on hiatus since it had already been eight years since he launched the manga, and that he was getting exhausted. He added that he will return to the manga when he feels better.

The manga is a comic essay about the author's own life, named Mr. Parman in the manga. The author describes a person who wakes up everyday to see his wife off, and ride a train while drinking milk tea and looking outside the window on the way to his studio. The manga's name references Perman (Pāman), the titular character of a manga created by Abiko and Hiroshi Fujimoto under the Fujiko Fujio pseudonym.

Fujiko Fujio A launched the manga in Jump Square in 2007. Shueisha published the manga's fourth compiled book volume on March 5. Fujiko Fujio A ended his similarly autobiographical Ai…Shirisomeshi Kei ni manga in 2013.
