Japanese Box Office, December 15-16: Tamagotchi at #3

Always stays; Crows Zero, Yes! Precure 5 drop off

Eiga de Tōjō! Tamagotchi Doki Doki! Uchū no Maigotchi!? (Appearing on Film! Tamagotchi!: Lost in Space!?), the first feature-length film based on the toys that spawned the virtual pet fad, opened at #3 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's top ten chart for the Japanese box office in the December 15-16 weekend. It earned the equivalent of US$1,117,182 (Box Office Mojo) so far. Always Zoku San-chōme no Yūhi (Always: Sunset on Third Street 2) dropped from #3 to #5 in its seventh week. Takashi Yamazaki's adaptation of Ryōhei Saigan's Sanchoume no Yuuhi - Yuuyake no Uta post-war slice-of-life manga added US$732,274, to its gross-to-date total of US$34,035,726. The animated Yes! Precure 5: Kagami no Kuni no Miracle Daibōken! movie spinoff and Takashi Miike's Crows Zero movie prequel to Yukihiko Tsutsumi's Crows manga dropped off the list entirely.
