This isn't really news. People have been playing as Duck Hunt Dog on the 3DS for a month.

NoA aired it on their direct for whatever reason. Actually, I imagine they aired it because they needed time to kill. While the NoA direct was showing old info like Duck Hunt dog and focusing on random indie games, the Japanese direct was pumping out like 10+ games. Etrian Oddysey Retold 2, Ace Combat 3D, Attack on Titan, Derby Stallion, Final Fantasy Explorers, Devil Survivor 2, Kenka Bancho 6, Lost Heroes 2,Atelier Rorona, and etcetera. Rather than just have dead air while Iwata talks to the Japanese audience, they threw in an old trailer I guess. |

They're just showing the intro trailers they haven't shown yet for new characters, like the recent Bowser Jr. trailer. ANN could have reported this differently...

AFAIK this isn't an old trailer but a brand new one. A number of the secret characters were leaked prior to the release of the 3DS version, so maybe Nintendo decided to hold off on the reveal videos to help build anticipation for the Wii U version.

And he's cute too! I felt the same way when I saw the Bowser/Koopaling trailer: This isn't a reveal. But maybe we'll see a MewTwo trailer? |

Don't be fooled kid. That dog is one of the most evil sadistic villains in the whole history of gaming. All of us '80s people wana shoot that laughing hyena for making fun of us when we missed. Also don't get the wrong idea as I love the moveset but the fact that the laugh still haunts me so I have abit of an endless debate: Do I play as the dog or get my revenge by beating the snot out of him? |

Duck Hunt Dog is the most annoying fighter after Rosalina, with the projectiles it has, couple of non-smash kill moves, and jump height and distance, he's the most campy character in the game.

Every time I play as the Duck Hunt Duo, I hope to win and get the snickering end-of-match victory animation. It hasn't happened yet. For some reason, all I get is the one where he points left and right and produces Wild Gunmen.
I'm sure that is intentional. He's meant to stay out of reach and have KO moves with enormous reach too. That, and he's a character themed on the Zapper. Logically, he should be a long-range character. I'm really glad they added in long-range characters like Duck Hunt and Mega Man, as this series lacked them prior, or at least ones who didn't have to get in close for the KO like the Links or Snake. |
