I'm not one to be quick to say "OMFG SEXXIZM U GUYZ", but I will say that "Dragon Crown"'s portrayal of women, from what I've seen, is pretty offensive. I mean, I'm a straight male, and I love certain, erm, assets, but women are more than just T&A to be ogled. This is something that many Japanese developers seem to be unable to grasp, and this game looks like no exception.
That being said, it still looks like a fun time, given that Muramasa and Odin Sphere were both killer. Hopefully the constantly jiggling frame rate (if you know what I mean) won't distract too much from the overall experience. |

Well, nice to know the Japanese aren't up in arms about sexism as here in the US. Well, maybe. I mean come on it's damn game. I'm not offended by it being a woman there are other things to really get your panties in a bunch about. I'm just glad the game is coming out. But in many ways suddenly I'm reminded of Ninja HS, the witch my friend really was crazy about. I find it odd in a country like Japan I really cannot really get why they love to put so much emphasis on fanservice to the point it's just the selling point of most mainstream anime series. You don't see it in serious movies unless it's a movie on an already slap-stick comedy that contains massive amounts of fanservice until you puke. But yeah Dragon's Crown will be played and there will be plenty of boobs and booty.
I wish the studio would finally release an artbook on all their works. If that happened I would buy it in a heartbeat. |
