20XX? That seems pretty vague, I can imagine Nintendo releasing a Switch successor in 2023/24. It won't be as powerful as a PS5 or XBS, since it'll still be a hybrid console, but I can imagine it being close to an Xbox One X, don't know if it 4K resolution would be possible, but one thing I'm sure is that it'll backwards compatible with the Switch, kind of what happened with the Game Boy Advance, Wii, WiiU and Nintendo 3DS.

2023/2024 is most like going to be when the next Nintendo console release.

Will it be as powerful as Steam Deck? 80% likely that it won't Anime hyper

They're already talking about a new console? They're still releasing games for the Switch!

Games were still being made for the 3ds even after the switch came out. This is pretty standard.

Well, gaming companies are constantly developing new technology, I remember reading a article from a gaming magazine about Sony investing in chips for the PS3 in 2001, 5 years before its release.

No, but people who buy Nintendo consoles don't particularly care about power. It's not an important factor for Nintendo like it is for Sony/Microsoft/Valve.

If I were them, I’d wait till the whole microchip shortage was over. So 24 seems like a good time for that.

Yeah, their usually well polished exclusives and overall portability were always Nintendo's biggests standout fortes in the industry from the very start (with the Gameboy and SNES combination to cover both grounds, which now work together within the Switch on itself as a comfy hybrid with high definition capabilities).

Even if they aim for 1440p next, I'm pretty sure people will still be plenty satisfied with just that, their Full HD titles look as beautiful and artistically pleasing as several UHD titles in other platforms with vastly more power in hands, they will be okay.

i mean i use switch for its portability. If i am in mood for visuals i just dump stuff to my PC and run emulator version where I can crank the visuals well beyond what were intended.

What does "integrated software-hardware" even mean anyway?
It isn't very informative when they're using that to reference every single console of theirs, past, present and future.

I don't think that's true. Nintendo fans would've liked to play Breath of the Wild and Hyrule Warriors with a steady frame rate.

Exactly. It means nothing, other than to simply tell the shareholders it's going to be a traditional physical device like they've always done, and not just some hardware-less digital streaming service.

I'm guessing they're sticking to the Switch hybrid model. At best, I can see them launching both a hybrid model that does 1080p and a TV-only version with beefier hardware that runs native 4K. The game card will be the same.

They'll likely look to adopt Sony's DualSense features, and likely fix issues people have with the Switch controls.

As for what out-of-left-field idea they'll try to run with to make a splash... I dunno...
