That is very much the impression I had after playing the demo. I like that horror is taking a front seat again, but I'm not entirely sold on the new gameplay direction. Actually, that is how I felt about a lot of the sequels that came out of E3. God of War is another example where my excitement diminished after seeing the changes in gameplay. I get that name recognition is great for marketing, but I could help coming away from watching a lot of the E3 coverage with a feeling like if the developers thought a series needed that much of a shakeup, then maybe it was time to acknowledge that these series had run their course, and it was time to try something entirely new. |
