I wish these were in the actual anime. I would have gotten it all on Crunchyroll then.

It's not like they can't simulcast it after release,Crunchy streamed the OVA before.

It's better than nothing but personally I'd much prefer an OVA of the Excalibur arc.

Unfortunately, this only appears to be the case with the Jump Festa OVAs. The 2014 OVA has yet to receive an official release outside of Japan.

Given how popular this arc is with fans, I'm surprised it wasn't adapted as part of the latest season. I know they were working with a limited number of episodes, but I'd have been fine with them skipping a couple of the standalone stories in favor of doing this one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that you can only simulcast something that is currently airing, not something like an OVA that get a physical release on given date.

I am so happy they're making this arc! I was bummed when they didn't include it in the anime season, but with all the seriousness they had to shell out, I understand why they opted not to. But still! Very happy with this news.

It's not exactly common, but some OVAs are available for streaming. For example, Crunchyroll offers all of the Gintama OVAs (save for the 2014 one, the only one that wasn't a Jump Festa tie-in), as well as the Locodol OVAs.
